About the Job

As a Senior Systems Administrator Lead, you will play a key role in overseeing our dedicated system administrator team, ensuring that our internal IT infrastructure remains current and secure. In this leadership position, you will guide and mentor your team, leveraging your extensive expertise in both Linux and Windows administration to address evolving company needs. You will be responsible for managing key projects, implementing best practices, and fostering a collaborative environment to drive team performance and IT excellence. What you’ll do

  • Oversee the monitoring and alerting functionality for core system servers, ensuring timely identification and resolution of issues.
  • Manage user roles, permissions, and policies across all company software, including Active Directory, GitLab, and AWS, with a focus on maintaining security and compliance.
  • Implement and oversee password management, Single Sign-On (SSO) policies, and best practices across all company software, ensuring robust security protocols.
  • Coordinate and manage software requests, including conducting pre-installation research, vetting, and overseeing installation processes.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers seeking technical assistance, managing and prioritizing support requests via phone or email.
  • Lead efforts in developing and deploying infrastructure scripting solutions, utilizing tools such as Bash and Python to streamline operations.
  • Track, manage, and resolve support tickets using IT ticketing systems, ensuring prompt and effective issue resolution.
  • Direct the deployment and configuration of Linux servers, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and requirements.
  • Oversee the setup and reformatting of physical work machines, coordinating with IT teams to ensure smooth operations.
  • Ensure systems are maintained according to required configuration profiles, including patch maintenance, adherence to configuration standards, and software management.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive installation, configuration, and operational procedural guides for team use.
  • Monitor, respond to, and remediate cybersecurity threats, coordinating with security teams to protect organizational assets.
  • Lead and collaborate with engineers, analysts, data scientists, developers, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment and taking advantage of learning and leadership opportunities.
  • Guide cross-functional agile teams in experimenting, iterating, and delivering on new product or project objectives, ensuring alignment with overall goals and strategies.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Linux system administration and/or Windows system administration
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience managing a team of system administrators or IT professionals

Required Skills / Certifications

  • Experience in writing Bash and Python scripts to automate tasks and streamline system operations.
  • Proven expertise in systems administration on Windows platforms, including proficiency in Bash scripting for automation, task orchestration, and system optimization.
  • Extensive experience administering Linux-based systems, with a strong emphasis on Ubuntu, including the ability to configure, optimize, and troubleshoot system components for reliable and secure operations.
  • Strong command-line skills, with the ability to lead scripting and system management tasks efficiently.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and documenting standards, promoting process improvements, and driving best practices across teams.
  • Experience with Agile project management, including leading cross-functional teams, managing project workflows, and ensuring timely delivery of objectives.

Preferred Skills / Certifications

  • Security+ and Network+ Certified
  • ITIL Foundation Certificate
  • Experience with UiPath Product Suite
  • Experience with backup and restore operations
  • Demonstrated experience with datacenter-class network switch and firewall troubleshooting
  • Experience in systems administration on Windows and Linux platforms
  • Proficiency in Bash and Windows scripting for automation, task orchestration, and system optimization.
  • Experience with managing Linux servers using Ansible

Security clearance

  • You must be able to obtain a security clearance (Secret or higher) – US Citizenship required
