about the job

As a Cloud Engineer, you will collaborate with our engineering team to implement optimal cloud-based solutions and establish best practices for application deployment and infrastructure maintenance. You’ll mentor development teams, ensure high standards of application performance and scalability, and design cloud native applications for large-scale data processing and advanced analytics.

What you’ll do

  • Work in tandem with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud-based solutions for the company
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance
  • Provide guidance, thought leadership, and mentorship to development teams to build cloud competencies 
  • Ensure application performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
  • Design, build, and deploy our cloud native applications at the direction of lead architects, including large-scale data processing, computationally intensive statistical modeling, and advanced analytics
  • Participate in all aspects of the software development life cycle, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance
  • Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, fix and document issues, and implement preventive measures
  • Educate teams on the implementation of new cloud-based initiatives, providing associated training as required
  • Employ exceptional problem-solving skills, with the ability to see and solve issues before they affect the mission
  • Implement best practices in designing cloud infrastructure to meet various compliance needs such as NIST 800-53, CMMI, and CMMC
  • Build automated infrastructure deployments using Terraform, Ansible and other infrastructure as code and configuration as code tools
  • Design and implement networking best practices for a multi-cloud infrastructure

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a Related Discipline
  • 3 years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platforms, with a focus on Azure and Google Cloud Platforms
  • Understanding of and experience with the five pillars of a well-architected framework
  • Experience in several of the following areas: database architecture, ETL, business intelligence, big data, machine learning, and advanced analytics
  • Proven ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of business analysis, data analysis, developers, data scientists, architects, and subject matter experts
  • Proficiency in Terraform and experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices
  • Experience deploying and managing applications using Kubernetes

Required Skills / Certifications

  • Security+ and Network+ Certified
  • AWS, GCP, or Azure Certifications
  • Knowledge of web services, API, REST, and RPC

Preferred Skills / Certifications

Security clearance

  • You must be able to obtain a security clearance (Secret or higher) – US Citizenship required

COMPENSATION

  • $55,000-$125,000 per year based on skills, experience
